Just starting out? We can help with business plan reviews and provide guidance on licenses, loans, registration, and permits needed to start a business. We can also provide information on trade, patents, copyright and trademarks, and connect you to mentoring and networking opportunities.
Use our online booking calendar to meet us virtually or at the Aaniin Library, Angus Glen Library, Markham Village Library, YSpace or the IBM Innovation Centre.

Small Business Grants
The Markham Small Business Centre administers a few grants throughout the year including Summer Company, Starter Company Plus, Digital Transformation Grant, and the Canada Digital Adoption Program.
Succession Ontario
Succession Ontario is a free business transition planning hub that helps Ontario’s small business owners prepare for what is next. Whether selling to a third party, transferring the business to family or employees, or winding down, Succession Ontario provides practical tools, self-paced modules, virtual workshops and a free business valuation estimate to help owners plan ahead with confidence.
As part of Succession Ontario, the Markham Small Business Centre offers one-on-one succession planning consultations to help our local business owners take the first step toward their future.
About Ontario Small Business Advisory Centre (OSBAC)
Ontario Small Business Advisory Centres deliver provincially funded programs and services that help entrepreneurs and small businesses start, grow, and succeed. With more than 50 centres across Ontario, OSBACs foster local business growth and strengthen communities across the province.
Our OSBAC programs and services include:
Advisory Services
Provides information, referrals, advisory services, mentoring, workshops, networking opportunities, and business resources to support entrepreneurs and small businesses at all stages of development.
Starter Company Plus
Provides training, mentoring, and grant opportunities up to $5,000 for eligible entrepreneurs (18+) to start, expand or buy a small business.
Summer Company
Provides training, mentoring and grants up to $3,000 to Ontario students, between the ages of 15 and 29, who wish to start a full-time business over the summer.
Succession Ontario
An online hub that provides centralized free resources and tools for selling and buying a small business in Ontario, with a focus on preparing businesses for smooth ownership transition.
