Spaice is redefining the home renovation experience by bringing general contractors, construction management, design-build and interior design professionals under one roof. The Spaice studio provides a seamless, immersive experience for customers looking to transform their living spaces.
Carol Yang and Logan He founded the company in 2020. Yang, Director of Business Development at Spaice, says the initial idea was to create a software tool for contractors to use during the project's design phase.
“Contractors aren't designers. He saw a gap where many contractors wanted to provide a design for a project, but without the use of a professional designer. Once the software was built, we realized it could be something bigger, and that’s when we decided to launch the studio,” she says.
In addition to co-founding Spaice, Yang is also the founder of Zyra Design Build, a custom home builder in the GTA and Toronto area. Lang and He have partnered together to help their customers go from idea to living in their perfect home.
Spaice is using its innovative technology and commitment to quality to make the renovation process more accessible and enjoyable for homeowners and construction professionals alike.
“We know renovation projects require a lot of design work so people can see what they’re getting before the project starts,” Yang says. “We’re building a platform where construction professionals can be partners here to improve the experience.”
Spaice partners can use the showroom for their customers to see the possibilities, including how different materials will look together in a space. One of Yang’s favourite parts of the Spaice Studio experience is a wall feature that showcases the projects of its construction partners.
“Many times when you're looking at contractors, it's just words. The client can’t visualize what the space will look like. The showroom provides this so they can have a clear idea as to what to expect from the finished project,” she says.
Partnering with general contractors and builders gives Spaice’s customers the confidence that the project is in reputable hands. Yang says it all comes down to building trust.
“Many customers are scared of the unknowns when choosing a contractor. But Spaice’s showroom and our size give customers more confidence to go with us and our partners rather than picking someone off an internet search,” Yang says.
The company’s success isn’t only built on building trust. Spaice is delivering unique customer experiences with its custom-developed, AI-powered solution. The software creates a 3D rendering of a renovation project, which allows them to swap materials to show clients how their renovation could look with different material styles, textures, and colours.
“There are so many material choices available, which can usually means hours of customers taking samples home or going back and forth to a store. With Spaice, they can see the material choices in real-time in our studio,” Yang says.
Markham has been an ideal location for Spaice Studio's flagship showroom. The city offers a vibrant community and easy access to major highways, attracting local and out-of-town customers. The high traffic and diverse population provide a steady stream of potential clients and partners.
"Renovation customers are our focus, but we're also working to generate more business-to-business relationships so that we can grow and expand. We want to expand to Ottawa, London, and go into like Ottawa, maybe like London and then eventually to Vancouver,” Yang says.
